Anti-Money Laundering Statement

How our companies help prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

Why this matters to us

Some BGS companies work in sectors that UAE law treats as having a higher risk of money laundering, such as dealing in gold, precious metals and precious stones, and real estate. We take our duty to help prevent financial crime seriously.

The law we follow

These companies must follow the UAE's laws on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, including Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018 and its amendments, and the rules of the authorities that supervise them.

What this means for you

  • We may ask for identification, such as an Emirates ID or passport, before we complete some transactions.
  • We may ask where the money for a purchase comes from.
  • We keep the records the law requires.
  • We may delay or refuse a transaction if something does not seem right.
  • Where the law requires it, we report suspicious activity to the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit. The law does not allow us to tell you if we do.
